Men's Water Polo team face tough day against US
WaterPoloSHANGHAI – The U.S., scored seven unanswered goals in the first half en route to a 17-4 victory over Canada in the elimination round in men’s water polo at the FINA World Aquatic Championships.

With the victory, the Americans (2-2 overall) advance to the quarterfinals while Canada (2-2) will battle for ninth place in the consolation playoff round.

Devon Diggle of Pierrefonds, Que., scored twice for Canada while Nicholas Constantin-Bicari and Omar Touni of Montreal added one each.  The early American scoring spree put Canada behind 11-2 at the half.

‘’It’s disappointing,’’ said Canadian team manager Neil Muir of Calgary.  ‘’We thought it would be a close match.’’

In the other elimination round matches Montenegro defeated Romania 8-4, Spain edged Australia 9-8 while Japan- Germany is set for later tonight.  Canada will face Romania on Tuesday morning.
